Downloading your Electronic Book Purchase
To
download your book follow these steps:
-
Click on a download link
sent to you by email or on the link on the page you were
directed to. The download
button will look like this:

-
With most browsers, you will see a window pop up
asking you if you want to "open" or
"save" the file.

Choose Save. Click OK.
-
Your browser should then ask you what folder you
want to save the file in. Usually it will default to
whatever folder you last saved a file in.

It is a good idea to create a special folder (called
C:\My Downloads, for example) where you save
downloaded files. Then you will always know where they
are. When this window appears you should also make a
note of the filename of the file - you will need to
know this name so that you can find your book
later. to find it later (in this example, the
filename is wholefoods.exe).
-
Your browser will then begin downloading the file.

If the box "Close this dialog box when download
completes" is checked, uncheck it. How long the
download takes will depend on the size of the file,
the speed of your modem, and the level of internet
traffic on the server and the internet.
-
When the file is done downloading, you'll get the
screen below.

Just click on the Open button to run the file.
This dialog box also tells you where on your hard
drive the file is (in this example, C:\My Downloads\wholefoods.exe).
This is useful should you need to know where the file
is in the future to run it again.
-
Most of the files on Readersbookclub.com are EXE files,
they will run without you having to do anything
further to them. If you elected to download your book
in a PDF format, then the extention or last 3
letters of the file after the . will be pdf. PDF
files require Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is
downloadable for free here.
-
It is a very good idea to keep the file you
downloaded, your purchase and transaction number and
your license number. Don't delete it! You never know
when you may need to reinstall, or when you may get a
new computer. You'll need the downloaded file to
install again. Each installation requires a different
license number to run.
If you have problems
-
If you can't find the file you downloaded:
You must know the filename. If you know the
filename, you can click on the start button, Find,
Files or Folders... and do a search on the filename
over your entire computer to find the file. To do a
search use the windows explorer interface, under
tools, find/search.
